When the snow had thawed on the 9th of March, a little later that originally planned, world book day was celebrated in first class.
We had a wonderful day. We thoroughly enjoyed swapping and unwrapping all our new books. Thanks to Edie's mum Mary who came in to read to our class. We heard a French story and an Irish story and really enjoyed listening to each. Some children in First class brought in their favourite books and we wrote book reviews about these books and other books that we are enjoying. We even had some characters from our favourite books arrive into class in the morning; among our guests for the day were Harry Potter, Hermione, Horrid Henry and Matilda. It was a really fun day and a lovely way to encourage and develop a love of reading and a love of books for the children.
