World Book Day!

We had so much fun celebrating World Book Day in Second Class. Some of us dressed up in some fabulous costumes inspired by characters from our favourite books. To begin the day we had a book swap whereby each child brought in a wrapped book and got to swap it with another child in the class. It was so great to see so many wonderful new books being read during DEAR time. After this we were very lucky to welcome Mary into our class to read short stories based on the countries of China and Russia. We then began working on our new comprehension strategy - Questioning! We learned about how good readers continuously question whilst they read. This week we are going to continue learning about the use of questioning as a strategy when we read and we are going to delve into the use of both 'thick' and 'thin' questions! Our reading response journals are becoming very full with all our wonderful reading activities!  We'll keep you posted on how we get on!

Also, keep your eyes peeled as Second Class have a very exciting book of short stories in the publishing phase as I type! We have been working so hard on writing narrative prose and can't wait to share our finished book with you all!

Happy World Book Day! We hope you enjoy reading as much as we do 🙂
