SETNS opening ceremony 26th September 2018

Stepaside Educate Together NS (SETNS) held its official opening ceremony on the 26th Sep’18. The Parents Association Committee (PAC) were delighted to be able to support and participate in such a wonderful event.

Hats off to Anne, Magda, Aidan and all the teachers & staff and children of SETNS for putting on such a special day. A definite highlight for the school’s memory box.

The day started with a gathering of the children, teachers & staff and special guests at the front entrance for the unveiling of the new school plaque by Richard Bruton and the cutting of the ribbon by Aidan Gallagher.

This was followed with a move to the new school hall. Here the children delighted everyone with a very relevant song and poem. Some of the first ever pupils to attend the school when it first opened in 2012 kindly shared their first memories of the school.

There were some great speeches highlighting the SETNS journey over the last 7 years, from the first prefab in De La Salle Palmerstown to the stunning new building in Belarmine Vale today.

The PAC particularly enjoyed both Anne and Magda's speeches.  As was so aptly described on the day, Magda the face of SETNS and Anne the heart of SETNS.

The ceremony ended with some guests joining Anne and the SETNS team on the roof top garden for some refreshments (courtesy of Fresh) and the cutting of the fabulous cake.

A big thank you to Laura and Emma from our local supermarket Fresh for putting on a lovely spread.

Also, a big shout out to the great kids of SETSS, thanks for helping the PAC with teas/coffee’s and tidy up. Your enthusiastic smiling faces were very much appreciated.

It was great to see so many there including special guest Richard Bruton, along with Lettie McCarthy, Shane Ross, Catherine Martin, Josepha Madigan, Kevin Daly and Educate Together’s Chief Executive Paul Rowe.

There was a great write up in the Irish Times covering this wonderful event, see https://tinyurl.com/ybevetcs.

Again, thank you Anne, Magda, Aidan and all at SETNS for such a special occasion and for getting us all to where we are today.

Here’s to many happy years in our new school home.
