Seachtain na Gaeilge

What a fantastic seachtain (week) we have had in Rang a haon (First Class)! We have had an extra emphasis on Gaeilge throughout the week; we really enjoyed visiting the Siopa Gaeilge and using our Irish to go shopping. Each day we have awarded a prize to the Gaeilgeoir an Lae. Well done to all the boys and girls who made a big effort to try to earn this prize of Irish speaker of the day. We learnt different frása an lae (phrase of the day) during the week and have been trying to bring these into our everyday informal Gaeilge.

Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua were very kind to invite us to join them in listening to some traditional Irish music performed by boys from Coláiste Eoin. We also joined them to play biongó (bingo) and to take part in a céilí and we really enjoyed ourselves.

During our school assembly on Friday First Class did a wonderful job performing 'Bogha Báistí' and 'Is maith liom an tseamróg' to the whole school. They were fantastic. Some of the older classes performed a song by Coldplay 'as Gaeilge' as part of a farewell to Conor, the principal from Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua. It was a beautiful performance also. There was a lovely community atmosphere between the two schools throughout the week and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
