The Pieta Amber Flag is an initiative that aims to promote positive mental health and well-being for all children and staff in the school. It also enables schools to raise awareness of the stigmas which exist in their environments and the stressors on the mental and emotional well-being of those within the school. There are three main goals for the Amber Flag:
- To promote mental health and well-being for all.
- Preventing mental health problems through increased awareness, social support, reducing risk factors such as racism, bullying and isolation.
- Improve the quality of life for students with mental health problems by promoting recovery through awareness and education.
As a school, we will partake in various activities that promote mental and emotional well-being within the school. There will also be certain targets, objectives and goals that will need to be met to achieve the Amber Flag for the school. With everything that has been going on over the past 8 months, now more than ever, we all need to take care of ourselves, inside and out.
