October 2019 in Claire’s Fourth Class.

Wow! What another busy month in Fourth Class. We are still learning and having lots of fun while doing so. Here are a few pictures of what we got up to this month.

We worked hard for 'Maths Week' and participated in some fun lesson starters. Thank you to Pádraig and Ultan who ran a fantastic themed week. Fourth Class really enjoyed the 'Maths Problem of the Day' and the big 'Maths Quiz' in the halla on the Friday.

We enjoyed reading with Damien's Junior Infants, our 'Reading Buddies'. We wrote them Friendship Stories and Halloween Stories as part of our Genre Writing. In return, Damien's Class brought their favourite book to us and we read them together. Thank you Junior Infants!

We made some amazingly spooky Halloween paintings for our Art lessons. We are all very proud of our work and displayed the finished product around the classroom.

We had great fun working in groups making Graphic Notations for our Music lessons. They were Halloween themed and some groups were very creative. I wonder can any of the children remember their finished work?

Thank you to Jonathan from 'Leinster Rugby' who has taught us some Tag Rugby over the last two weeks (Tuesday mornings). We are very lucky and will have another three sessions after the Mid-Term break.

The week before Mid-Term we went on a special trip to Castletown House in Kildare. We had a great time learning all about the history of the house and completing a Maths Trail. Thank you to Pauline and Kate for having us and leading such an informative tour. Thank you also to Melody, Naomi and Paula for coming along on the day and helping out. The support is very much appreciated!

We finished off a wonderful first half term with a spooktacular Halloween Walk and Disco last Thursday. Thank you to everyone involved.

Our Kindness Jar was full and filled to the brim. The class won a popcorn party last Friday as a special treat for showing kindness and friendship to themselves and the wider school community. Keep it up 4A!

Oíche shamhna shona daoibh.

Claire 🙂
