Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2024

This year we are holding a Neurodiversity Celebration Week at Stepaside ETNS. Neurodiversity refers to the many ways our brains lead us to think, learn, feel, process information, communicate and experience the world. People are described as ‘neurotypical’ if their brain generally processes information in the way most people expect. People can be described as ‘neurodivergent’ when their brain works and processes information in a different way. Many people in our community use neurodiversity as an umbrella term used to describe alternative thinking styles described in, amongst others, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia.

Teaching staff have displayed artwork and posters celebrating neurodiversity all around our school.Look out for the Umbrella installation on the stairs – this engaging art celebrates the variety of thinking styles and unique skills that fall under the ‘umbrella’ of neurodiversity. This demonstrates the school community view that All Brains are Welcome Here.
