Our first clean-up at our new school in Belarmine on April 29th was a great success. We had over 50 volunteers, from toddlers to grandparents, who showed up to help clean the area around the school, the pond and stream, the village itself, with some volunteers even going as far as the playground across from Belarmine Plaza! Others actually got into the stream and climbed trees to remove plastic bags which were caught in tree branches and causing an eyesore for quite some time.

The kids loved helping and were all very keen on picking up as much rubbish as possible. The ‘pickers’ were especially in high demand. Towards the end we even had a visit from a mother duck and her adorable ducklings. After a good hour all bags were full, and we went into the hall to have some well-deserved tea, coffee, and biscuits.

Thanks again for all your great help, you made a big difference to the area and we are sure that the local residents very much appreciate our effort. The PAC is hoping to make the clean-up a regular event taking place once a term.
