Celebrating Autumn in Aistear.

We have had just so much fun with our first Aistear theme in Kate's class. The children have hugely enjoyed this theme and have really got involved in this play based framework for learning. During the first fortnight of October they have worked at five different stations, changing station each day. We had the Tidy Towns committee working hard to tidy up Stepaside, which got especially messy with autumn debris after storm Lorenzo! Our small world station saw the children working in a miniature woodland floor with stick puppet woodland animals. In construction the boys and girls used wooden blocks to create shelters for the animals to hibernate in. The children practiced their fine motor skills in manipulative play with play dough. And in art they experimented with rubbing leaves, creating patterns.

Thank you to all the children and parents for all they brought in every day. It really helped us engage with our play.
