2nd Class learned all about the wonderful continent of Africa and the many countries within that make it so fascinating. In particular, we focussed our learning on Kenya and Ethiopia. We studied geographical features of these countries as well as cultural and also gained some interesting facts on some animals native to Africa.
We mapped the migration paths of the Wildebeest!
We studied all about the Maasai Tribe and their culture and spent some time comparing how our own lives in Ireland might differ from that of a child in Kenya.
We then produced some beautiful art based on a photograph of the Maasai Tribe collecting water from a local well. We explored the 'colours' of Africa and how we can manipulate the paints to help us represent this accurately. We then used hessian fibre to add some texture to our finished art.
