Second Class

Second Class is the fourth year in primary school and typically accommodates students aged 7 to 8. It marks a stage where foundational skills are built upon from First Class. Curriculum focuses on literacy, numeracy, and introducing more complex subjects like science and history. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Students engage in a variety of activities to foster creativity and social skills.

Teachers employ interactive teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles. Second class serves as a bridge between early learning and more structured education, nurturing students’ academic and personal growth.

News from Second Class

September 2024

The first few weeks of 2nd class have been full of excitement and fun as we've settled into our new routines.

We've been learning in creative ways, with activities like games, storytelling, and group projects that have made the start of the year really enjoyable.

A highlight was the nature walk that all three 2nd classes went on together. We used our senses to make interesting observations, from feeling the rough texture of tree bark to listening to the sounds of birds and leaves rustling in the breeze. It was a fantastic way to explore the outdoors and learn about the world around us!

October 2024

1st and 2nd Class took part in Teditation (Teddy Meditation) we are always looking at ways to be mindful and ways to relax. 2A very kindly invited all of 1st class and 2nd class pupils, along with all their cuddly friends.
They also made PE circuits for SIA this week - they created the circuits ourselves and set them up.

2B were very busy this month experimenting whether plants need sunlight to grow… it turns out they do! 2B also spent a lot of time examining 2D shapes, and researching migratory animals, such as the humpback whale, artic tern, wildebeasts and caribou. Finally, with the run up the Halloween, 2B enjoyed learning about Pablo Picasso and his unique art style known as “cubism”. They interpreted this style to make their very own Picasso Frankensteins.

2C had lots of fun in art class this month creating colourful hot air balloons and some spooktacular artwork for the classroom!
