Fourth Class is the sixth year in primary school and typically accommodates students aged 9 to 10. In this year students continue to expand their foundational skills in subjects like English, Irish, mathematics, and science.
The curriculum advances to include more complex reading, writing, and math concepts. Additionally, students delve deeper into subjects like history, geography, and elements of music and art. Teachers encourage critical thinking and independent learning while nurturing social and emotional development.
Fourth class marks a stage where students further consolidate their academic abilities, preparing them for more advanced learning in later years of primary education. An emphasis is also placed on orangisational skills and ownership of learning in fourth class as the children progress to the more senior classes in the school.
