5C really enjoyed making storyboards based on a Irish story which they read in class.
Fifth class have dived right into work this term! We’ve been learning all about place value, addition and subtraction in Maths and working on Mé Féin (myself) as Gaeilge. In English we’ve been working on recount writing and different aspects of English grammar. Have a look at some of our artwork, classroom activities, and 5B starting buddy reading with SIB!
5B have been learning all about Plants this month. We learned about pollination, types of plants, and the parts of a flower. Have a look at our amazing work!
October 2025
5th class have enjoyed meeting their buddy classes in Senior Infants for Friendship Week! 5A and SIA did buddy reading, 5B and SIB drew portraits of each other, and 5C taught SIC some yard games. So much fun! Bonus: Spot some of 5C in their funky socks for Odd Socks Day!
November 2025
STEM Week: 5th class did the Elephant toothpaste experiment and had a parent speaker talking about Technical Writing. 5C also made thaumatropes in art, which is a simple form of animation. 5C also built veggie cars where the children had to create cars that rolled out of vegetables and cocktail sticks!
Playdough and toothpick challenge in 5A.We worked with partners to create the tallest structure. Different designs affected the strength, height, and the stability of the towers. This challenge helped us with our engineering, problem solving and team work skills.
January 2026
This week 5C held debates about a controversial topic- video games! The class put in massive effort, discussing the topic, brainstorming arguments for and against video games, writing speeches to persuade people of their opinions and presenting their work in a debate format. Well done to all students in 5C!
February 2026
5th class has been learning about electricity this month. They read about how batteries and electrical circuits work. They then made their own electrical circuits with light bulbs, motors and buzzers.
They also learned about forces and simple machines and explored the concept of a lever by creating a catapult and adjusting the fulcrum to launch marshmallows at different angles!
March 2026
We really enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day!
